A huge congratulations to the Waverley AC athletes (Will, Jasmine, Erin, Annabel, Nel, Emi, Max, Tommy and Jacob) that competed at the South East Regional sportshall finals last Sunday. Surrey once again put on a dominant performance across the age groups with U11G, U13G, U15G and U15B all winning gold. The U13G, U15G and U15B all progress to the National finals in Stoke in April. And a special congratulations to Will F for winning the U15B individual competition and increasing his club shot putt record with a throw of 11.

The weekend of the 8th / 9th February saw some of the top junior athletes in the country compete at the England Athletics U15 / U17 / U20 indoor championships. Entry for this competition is based on achieving certain entry standards and we were delighted to have 2 of our athletes compete at the Championships. Camilla C competed in the U17W 200m and Owen F competed in the U17M long jump, finishing in 4th place.

Great racing for Waverley AC athletes today at Basingstoke development league M1. Strong wins for Sophie and Max. Well done everyone. Next Round Sunday 16th February. Greenfields School, Hartley Witney, first race 1-30pm.

After 4 tough rounds of XC races from October through to yesterday, Waverley AC u15 girls triumph in the Surrey League 24-25. Great running form Bethy (winning yesterdays match and finishing third overall), Scarlett, Lila, Isabelle and Karenza against some very tough opposition. U15 girls finish 2nd and senior men 6th! Great start to the XC season at Surrey League M1. Ben winning the seniors at a very hilly Reigate. Well done Team Waverley!

Strong finishes from our U15 girls and senior men’s team in the excellently organised SEAA road relay champs at Rushmoor. A long day of racing but sunny conditions and a great atmosphere made it a day to remember: Well done everyone!

With a thriving junior membership, Waverley AC well as other local clubs, were, and still are, keen to get more of our members active in this form of racing. With this in mind WAVAC along with Fleet and Andover have decided to create a new, local league called the Junior Cross country League. In 2018-19 Overton Harriers and Wessex Wyverns joined. Team Kennet joined in 2020-21 and Aldershot Farnham & District.
