Waverley AC wins quad kids at Wessex League Oxford.
Well done to our quad kids team wining at Oxford’s Wessex League event on Sunday, Girls were 1st with the boys finishing 5th. Competing as a team in 75m sprint, 600m, long jump and howler throw, congratulations to Annabel winning overall, Felix 2nd and Tilly 3rd. Looking forward to the final round at Aldershot in July.

Godalming Run Success 2024
It was great to see so many Waverley AC athletes competing in the sunshine at Sundays Godalming 5k run. Strong performances from Scarlett and Indigo wining their categories too.

Surrey AA County Championship 2024 Medal Success
Strong performances from Waverley AC athletes at the Surrey AA County Championships saw 11 individual medals won in long jump, triple jump, shot, javelin and discus. Congratulation to our 2 gold medal winners, Nat and Jasmine, both in discus.

Youth Development League Introduction - Lewes - April 28th
A wet Lewes on Sunday was our introduction to the Youth Development League. Our first league match was a success, finishing 4th overall. Despite the exam pressures and distance travelled, Waverley AC athletes, officials, team managers and parents had a fun day - the sun even shined at the end.
Thanks for our amazing officials and team managers, next round is much closer to home at Guildford Spectrum on Sunday 26th May.

Wessex Young Athletes League Match 1 Andover
It was a cold and blustery day that saw the start of this year’s Waverley AC Wessex League campaign. It was a great turnout with 53 seniour athletes and 13 quad kids making the trip to Andover.
And a very successful trip it was too with Waverley recording an overall match win in the senior event and our quad kids coming 4th overall.
Many thanks to all our athletes, parents, team managers and officials for making this happen.

National Sportshall Finals - 6th April 2024
Following their success at the Regional Sportshall finals, 5 Waverley athletes (Ryan S, Owen F, Will F, Mya S and Mollie M) headed to Stoke-on-Trent on the weekend to compete in the National Sportshall finals.
It was another successful event with the U15B and U15G Surrey teams winning Gold and the U13G Surrey team winning silver.
As well as being a team competition, for the U15s there is an individual competition and the Waverley athletes all did very well with all 4 athletes coming in the top 6.

Bracknell AC 44th YA Open Meeting - 30th March 2024
A surprisingly sunny day over the Easter weekend saw 11 Waverley AC athletes dust off their winter cobwebs and compete at the Bracknell Young Athletes open. The Bracknell Open is unusual in that it awards medals to the top performances in each event and, as well as achieving some great PBs, our athletes came away with 9 medals!

Surrey Indoor Track & Field Championships Success - March 2024
Congratulations to the Waverley AC athletes that competed at the Surrey Indoor T&F Championships at Carshalton on the weekend of the 9th / 10th March. A number of medals and PBs were achieved over the weekend.

Julia S - U17W Shot (PB throw of 10.66m)
Well done also to Lily B, Stirling G and Olivia G who achieved PBs in the long jump, triple jump and 60m respectively!

English School Cross Country Championships
Ollie J finished his very successful 2023-2024 cross country season representing Surrey Schools Athletics in the intermediate boys team at the English Schools National Cross Country Championships in Pontefract on Saturday 16th March.
A large field of 330 runners took part racing over a very muddy course with some long hills, Ollie took 60th place and helping the Surrey intermediate boys team to second place 🥈
He will be taking a brief rest this week before preparing for the 2024 track season !

What Is a Lumbar Spine Bone Stress Injury ?
As Spring arrives and the weather (hopefully) begins to improve there is a move from indoor training to outdoor training and competition and with it a change in the type and amount of activity and exercise that children and adolescents participate in.
Whilst this is not an issue in itself, how quickly they increase the amount of activity can cause problems.

CAU National Intercounties Cross Country Championships Wollaton Park Nottingham Saturday 9th March 2024
2 Waverley AC athletes travelled to Wollaton Park in Nottingham, selected to represent Surrey in their respective age groups at the CAU National Intercounties Cross Country Championships on Saturday following their performances at the Surrey Cross Country County Championships Denbies in January.
The sun came out briefly and there was only a little bit of mud on the challenging hilly course - a relief for both runners and supporters in what has been an extremely wet and often frustrating cross country season!
