Final Match Surrey Cross Country League West Horsley Place Saturday 10th January 2024

Saturday saw the final match of the Surrey Cross Country League.

The Juniors raced at West Horsley Place - perhaps better know as Button House from the TV series Ghosts.

Thankfully no ghosts in sight but some fantastic performances from the Waverley Athletes.

First to race was Isabelle G with sister Ciara in the U13 girls race, with Isabelle finishing in 2nd place.

Next up was the U15/17 girls race. Scarlet M finished in 12th place in the U15 girls race with an amazing sprint finish

Sienna I took 3rd place in the U17 womens race giving her 4th place overall in the league to the season

Lana R had a great race finishing strongly in 43rd place out of a field of 66 to complete her first XC season

Final race of the day was the U17 mens race, Ollie J 2nd finished to give him 2nd place in the league overall for the season, Robert I finished 39th & George B 53rd to give the team a brilliant 5th position overall for the season.

The senior team was much depleted by illness/ injury and prior engagements leaving Giles J the sole runner at Lloyd Park in Croydon - a very muddy course by all accounts but congratulations on finishing the series.

In all a very successful debut season for all the Waverley AC athletes in the Surrey Cross Country League. Looking forward to the next season with an even stronger bigger team.
